Voor het eerst sinds 2008 organiseerde MTV een nationale finale. De Hongaarse omroep ontving 200 inzendingen. 20 daarvan werden geselecteerd en verdeeld over twee halve finales met telkens tien deelnemers. Per halve finale stootten drie van hen door naar de finale dankzij een vakjury, de televoters mochten één deelnemer per halve finale doorsturen. In de finale kozen de televoters de beste vier. Daarop koos de vakjury de kandidaat voor Bakoe.

Compact Disco bestaat uit vier leden: Behnam Lotfi, Gábor Pál (keyboards), Attila Sándor (bas) en leadzanger Csaba Walkó. Het kwartet heeft twee albums uitgebracht: 'Stereoid' in 2009 en '//' in 2011. De groep won in 2011 drie prijzen: de Fonogram Award voor beste optreden in Electronische muziek, de Antropos.hu Award voor album van het jaar en de MTV Europe Music Award voor beste lokale artiest in Hongarije. De drie singles uit het album 'Stereoid', namelijk 'Fly or Dive', 'I'm in love' en 'Whithout you', werden internationaal gereleast nadat de groep een platencontract had getekend metAge Dive. Universal bracht 'I'm in love' uit in Bulgarije en Roemenië.

• Compact Disco kreeg in de superfinale twee van de vier stemmen van de vakjury. Gabor Heincz, Caramel en Bin, Viktor en Linda Kiraly waren de andere superfinalisten.
• Begin mei was 'Sound of our hearts' al uitgebracht in elf landen. Buiten Hongarije is de plaat verkrijgbaar in Denemarken, Noorwegen, Zweden, Estland, Litouwen, Oostenrijk, Duitsland, Italië, Rusland en Bulgarije. Ook met de BeNeLux, Zwitserland, Tsjechië, Slowakije, Polen, Roemenië en Mexico lopen nog onderhandelingen. Opmerkelijk is dat het nummer zelfs in Zuid-Afrika zal uitkomen.
