Nadat alle 69 ingezonden nummers al aan een keuring onderworpen waren door het publiek op het internet, koos een jury tijdens een auditie 20 halve finalisten. Dezen werden verdeeld over twee halve finales op 7 en 14 januari, waarbij telkens vijf kandidaten naar de finale mochten. Tijdens de finale op 18 februari werden eerst drie superfinalisten gekozen, waarna de televoters de winnaar mocht kiezen.

Linda Amantova, aka Anmary, nam deel aan de talentenjacht 'Talantu Fabrika 2'. Daar eindigde ze op de tweede plaats. Ze speelde ook in de Letse versie van de musical West Side Story en ze was zangeres bij de groepen Sunny Sense en Mash Mash. Dr. Christoph Schönherr, componist en professor aan het Hamburg College of Music and Theatre koos Anmary om solo te zingen in Magnificat, waarmee het Hamburg Symphony Orchestra tourde in Frankrijk, Duitsland, Spanje en België. Anmary werkt ook als zanglerares.

• Sinplus uit Zwitserland, Musiqq (ESF 11) en Marie N, die tien jaar geleden het songfestival won, traden op als gast tijdens de Letse finale.
• Anmary won in de superfinale van Samanta Tina & Davids Kalandija en Mad Show Boys.
• Op 21 april trad Anmary op tijdens Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam.
